Traveling with your pet?

Here are some ideas for your pet's first aid kit...

  1. Your pet's medical records - vaccine history, rabies certificate, list of medications
  2. Your veterinarian's name, address and phone number
  3. Go to www.myveterinarian.com - to find a vet in the area you are traveling to

  6. Paper and pen (to write down notes)

Bandaging materials:

  • roll gauze
  • vet wrap
  • telfa pads
  • adhesive tape
  • small scissors
  • tweezers

Medications:

  • Benadryl --- consult vet for proper dosing
  • triple antibiotic ointment

***NO aspirin, acetaminophen (Tylenol), or ibuprofen (Advil) products!!!***

Cleansers:

  • ear wash --- consult vet for recommendation
  • sterile eye wash --- NOT contact eye solution
  • bottled water
  • hydrogen peroxide --- can be diluted 50/50 with water for cleaning small wound; do NOT use in eyes or ears; consult vet to induce vomiting

Miscellaneous:

  • cotton tipped swabs
  • tongue depressors
  • syringe (without needles) or eye dropper
  • nail trimmer
  • cornstarch (to stop a bleeding nail)
  • tick remover tool
  • muzzle
  • leash
  • digital 'fever' thermometer
  • towels
